Are you feeling a bit deflated?
Are you disappointed because you haven’t managed your New Year Resolutions?
Do you feel there’s just no point in exercising, eating healthily etc because you couldn’t manage it in January?
Welcome to Fix It February!
If you look around you will notice that the days are drawing out nicely so it is still light around 5pm; all around there are signs of Spring – buds on trees, blossom forming, daffodils and snowdrops, and so far, no snow!
Take the opportunity to get outside for a walk and soak up some of the sunshine; if it’s raining or windy then wrap up warm. Can’t stand being out in the rain and wind? Head to the swimming pool – getting wet in the pool is somehow far better that getting wet outside… Taking exercise will boost your mood and help your commitment to change.
Now is probably a good time to review what went wrong in January and look for easy fixes; often it’s simply about being more realistic in setting targets (targets that are actually achievable) and bringing on board some help.
For example, if you want to start running, then look for a support group, use a couch to 5k app or simply drag a friend along; if you want to shed some weight take some realistic steps to change what you eat and when you eat (not eating will simply make you feel ill), look for easy ways of adding in some exercise such as walking to work or using the stairs instead of the lift, cut out sugary drinks and snacks and ensure that you are getting quality sleep.
As a therapist I can support you in your journey towards change eg with weight management, with sugar/cola/chocolate/crisps addiction, with lack of self worth, with poor body image and lots more.
I am a hypnotherapist and reiki master but also use many other therapies to help my clients become the person they want to be; it doesn’t involve months and months of appointments – in fact the majority of my clients see me for 4 sessions over a 4-6 week period.
